Marske had previously qualified for this event in December alongside Middlesbrough Acklam girls. The competition was tough, with Marske loosing to Tettenhall Tigers in the first match, this meant that they needed to win the next two matches to qualify. A comfortable win against a young Acklam team meant that everything came down to a nail-biting last match. Marske played Newcastle Staffordshire on their home ground, one of the largest and most successful clubs in England. Strong serving from Newcastle saw them narrowly take the 1st set. The 2nd set saw Marske dig deep with some excellent spiking from captain Jenny Little, and Marske drew level, one set all! The third and final set was evenly matched almost point for point. Both teams playing some amazing volleyball and heart stopping moments for coaches for supporters, with Newcastle gaining match point 14-13, Marske drew level to 14-14 and two excellent serves saw them gain victory 16-14! One of the quotes from the Marske was “An Awesome Day, so glad to have got through”.
